February 4, 2014
Baton Rouge, LA — Every year the Alzheimer Services of the Capital Area award their volunteers at their annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. One of the three 2014 Rosemary Award recipients was our very own Bill Slaughter.
The following is an excerpt from the Alzheimer Services of the Capital Area Spring 2014 Newsletter.
Alzheimer Services of the Capital Area Spring 2014 Newsletter - Alzheimer’s Services honored nearly 150 volunteers at this year’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on February 4, at
the Crowne Plaza. Guests enjoyed a special lunch and presentation which highlighted numerous accomplishments over the past year and thanked volunteers who do so much to extend our staff and resources. Additionally, several Walk/Run to Remember Team Captains and long-time volunteers were thanked for helping to make 2013 a record year!
Joseph and Mary Spera, along with Dana Territo, presented the 2014 Charlie Award to Brian Babin, an amazing volunteer who brings the clients such joy by playing the saxophone every month at Charlie’s Place. Barbara Auten presented the 2014 Rosemary Awards to three dedicated individuals: Harriet Walters who recently retired from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital as well as Kelsey Funes and Bill Slaughter who have retired from the Alzheimer’s Board of Directors after many years of dedicated service. In addition, we recognized 21 volunteers for 5 years of service, 4 volunteers for 10 years of service and six volunteers for 15 years of service to our organization. We would like to extend a special thank you to Board Members Dudley Coates, Kathi Gill, Carl Kennedy, Crissie Head Landry, Cheryl Payne, Charlie Valluzzo and Paul West for being there to help us pay tribute to all of our amazing volunteers.
